 six-year-old Israel Effiong, who is from Ikot Uso Ekong, Eket, Akwa Ibom was accused of being behind his father's illness. He ran for his life, after his step-mother almost killed him with punishment. He was said to be residing in a bush for almost a year before he was rescued by a volunteer with the organization. According to him, when his father illness was worst, his stepmother became very furious. Every nights, she'll wake him up, tie his hands and legs then poured wild ants all over his body and sometimes she would tie his hand and legs, began to hit his heads with sticks and electrical wires. She later stopped feeding sent him out of the house. One day, he slept off in the market, that was how a boy came and and promised to come back and take him to a safe place.
