Lagos state Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode signed into Lagos state's kidnapping prohibition bill, 2016 which provides for death penalty for kidnappers whose victims die in their custody, and life imprisonment for the act of kidnapping. It was learnt that Lagos State House of Assembly passed the bill on January 5 2017.


With this, it is likely, kidnap kingpin Evans gets either a life imprisonment or death penalty sentence.
when he was asked on what his future holds due to the new law, he said although he had money, he lived a very simple life and on the day they arrested him, he had a strange feeling that was why he decided to stay indoors. He also added that his neighbors thought he was an ordinary business man.
