Teni shared a video of herself excitedly greeting and prostrating before Bende on an aircraft, drawing criticism from Nigerians who compared it to her alleged failure to shake hands with former President Muhammadu Buhari during a National honor ceremony last year.

Responding to the criticisms, Teni clarified that she met Bende in 2014 and he was supportive of her even before her music career took off. She emphasized her lack of knowledge regarding any criminal allegations against him and asserted her stance against criminal activities, stating, "I do not support criminals, so let the law take its course."
