“I Never Planned to Be a Comedienne” – Lizzy Jay Opens Up About Her Unexpected Journey into Skit Making

Popular Nigerian actress and skit maker, Adeyela Adebola, widely known as Lizzy Jay, has revealed that comedy was never part of her original life goals. In a recent interview on Nollywood on Radio, the multi-talented star shared how her journey into skit-making began by accident.

According to Lizzy, she had childhood dreams of becoming a singer and a medical doctor. Comedy or content creation, she emphasized, was not something she ever imagined doing.

“I had no plans to be a comedienne,” she said. “What I wanted was to do music, go to school, and become a doctor. Making skits was just something I started out of boredom. I was home alone with my phone and wanted to do something fun.”

She also clarified that she wasn’t trying to copy anyone when she started posting skits online. Instead, it was a personal experiment that unexpectedly caught the public’s attention.

“It wasn’t that I saw someone doing skits and decided to copy them. I just started mine without any expectations,” Lizzy added.

Her breakthrough moment came when Nollywood star Omotola Jalade-Ekeinde reposted one of her skits.

“When Omotola reposted my skit, I realized this was something more than just a way to pass time. That’s when I decided to keep going and take it seriously,” she explained.

Since then, Lizzy Jay has grown into one of Nigeria’s most beloved online comedians and has successfully transitioned into Nollywood. She has featured in popular films like Dear Affy, Dubara, and The Order of Things.

Her story is a powerful reminder that sometimes, the best opportunities come when we least expect them. What began as a way to fight boredom has now evolved into a thriving entertainment career.

Today, Lizzy continues to entertain fans with her skits while steadily building her name in the Nigerian film industry.
