“I Was Sold to Mali for ₦1.5 Million," Actress Jumoke George’s Daughter, Adeola, Opens Up

Veteran Nollywood actress Jumoke George is celebrating the safe return of her daughter, Adeola, after a traumatic four-year experience in Mali, where she was a victim of human trafficking.

The emotional revelation came during an interview on Biola Adebayo’s YouTube channel, where Adeola bravely opened up about her painful journey. According to her, a trusted family friend deceived her with a fake job offer abroad, claiming a woman in Mali needed a pharmacy assistant.

Driven by the desire to improve her life, Adeola accepted the offer—without telling her mother or family, fearing they would oppose it. The trip to Mali took five days. Upon arrival, reality hit hard: she had been sold for ₦1.5 million and told she was now someone’s “property.”

“I’m a victim of human trafficking,” she said. “When I arrived, the woman told me I had been sold and would have to work to repay the money.”

The Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), led by Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, facilitated her return to Nigeria. Adeola expressed gratitude to actress Biola Adebayo and actor Adeniyi Johnson for their humanitarian efforts in locating her and reuniting her with her mother.

A touching video posted on Biola Bayo’s Instagram showed an emotional reunion, with Jumoke George sitting on the ground, clutching her daughter in tears of joy.

The news has drawn widespread praise for Biola Adebayo’s “Talk to B” initiative, with celebrities like Toyin Abraham, Dayo Amusa, and Bose Alao applauding her efforts.

“Talk to B is not just a show, it’s a movement,” one fan commented.

“God bless everyone who helped bring Adeola home,” another wrote.

Adeola’s story is a painful reminder of the dangers of human trafficking and the importance of verifying opportunities abroad.
