“I got infuriated and slapped him on a movie set” – Actor Yemi Solade publicly apologizes to Afeez Owo over 20-year-old incident.

Veteran Nollywood actor Yemi Solade has issued a heartfelt public apology to his colleague Afeez Abiodun, popularly known as Afeez Owo, over an incident that occurred more than two decades ago.

Speaking on the latest episode of "Behind the Fame – African A-List," Yemi Solade confessed that he once slapped Afeez Owo during a movie production on the outskirts of Ibadan. At the time, Afeez was serving as the production manager for the project.

Yemi explained that after filming was completed, Afeez began making accusations related to the production. The situation escalated, and out of anger, he slapped him in the dark — an action he deeply regrets to this day.

“Let me apologise to Afeez Abiodun. I slapped him once. We were filming in a town near Ibadan. When we returned, everywhere was brown. As production manager, he made some accusations, and that got me infuriated. That slap came from nowhere, in the dark. I didn’t like that. Afeez left the location early in the morning, and we all woke up not seeing him. So Afeez, I’m sorry — mabinu simi,” Yemi said.

The actor acknowledged that although he had spoken about the incident to others in the past, he felt it was important to personally address and apologise to Afeez publicly. He also admitted that he struggles with handling insults, which might be one of his biggest personal weaknesses.

Yemi’s candid confession has drawn attention online, with many praising him for his humility and willingness to take responsibility, even after so many years. The incident sheds light on the pressures of the film industry and the need for emotional control and reconciliation.
