Temi Ajibade, popularly known as Temi Otedola, has spoken openly about the reasons behind her marriage to Afrobeats star, Mr Eazi, revealing that their relationship is rooted in deep friendship and mutual respect.
In an interview with the BBC, Temi shared that her decision to marry him came naturally because of the bond they share.
“He’s my best friend. He’s my person. And I think when you meet your person, you will know. I can’t imagine spending the rest of my life with anybody else.”
She added that what makes their relationship special is the joy of building life together — through wins, losses, and everyday moments.
“He’s the person that I’m excited and can’t wait to spend every day with, build our lives together, work through our ups and downs together, celebrate together, and solve problems together.”
On Taking Her Husband’s Surname
Temi also explained why she chose to take Mr Eazi’s last name, calling it a personal and meaningful decision.
“Obviously, now that I’m a married woman, the obvious thing for me is to take my husband’s name. But it’s my personal choice. I respect everybody’s personal choice… It’s what I’m comfortable and happy doing.”
On Keeping Their Wedding Private
When asked why their engagement and wedding were kept away from the public, Temi said privacy allowed them to control their own story.
“There’s something about moving in silence that allows you to have control over things… You’re able to share when you feel ready to share and in the way you want to share it.”
On Privilege and Responsibility
As the daughter of billionaire Femi Otedola, Temi acknowledged her privilege but emphasized the importance of using it wisely.
“I think it’s very important for people who are privileged to acknowledge that leg up they’ve gotten in life. Maybe the caveat is that you can give someone a leg up, but it’s what they do with it that matters.”
