Nollywood actor Deyemi Okanlawon is currently facing backlash online after he made a statement many people felt was mocking unskilled actors.
Deyemi had posted, “Involve me, involve me… but you no sabi act!” — a comment that many interpreted as a jab at new or upcoming actors in the film industry.
His post quickly sparked reactions. Some social media users accused him of being arrogant, saying he has no right to judge others. One user wrote, “You shouldn’t be the one tweeting this sha.” Others even criticized his own acting, dropping comments like, “Nothing special about acting though, even you no sabi act,” and “I don’t think I’ve seen any movie where your acting impressed me.”
However, not everyone was angry. Some fans defended Deyemi, saying his message was misunderstood. They believe he simply wanted to encourage professionalism and better acting standards within Nollywood, not insult upcoming actors.
The debate continues as Nigerians remain divided over whether Deyemi’s comment was playful advice or unnecessary shade.
