Mercy Aigbe Shares Heart-Touching Note as She Prepares to Lay Her Mother to Rest

Nollywood actress Mercy Aigbe has written a touching and emotional message to her late mother, Madam Grace Abisola Owodunni, as the family prepares to lay her to rest today, November 29, 2025, in Lekki, Lagos.

A few days ago, Aigbe announced the burial arrangements on social media, sharing a flyer revealing the final rites. On Thursday, she held a Service of Songs in honour of her mother, where she prayed for God’s strength to help the family through this painful period.

In her heartfelt note, Mercy described her mother as a blessing, a quiet light, and a gentle guide. She said her heart is full of memories and gratitude, adding that watching her mother with her grandchildren reminded her of how deeply she loved and how beautifully she lived.

She wrote:
“Today is heavy. Tomorrow will be even heavier as we lay her to rest.
My heart is full of memories, gratitude, and love.
You were a blessing, a gentle guide.
Rest well, my angel. We will carry your light forever.”

A Season of Loss in Nollywood

Mercy Aigbe lost her mother in September and shared the sad news with a candlelight post. Since then, she has thanked friends, fans, and colleagues for their messages, prayers, and support. She also opened up about the emotional stress of planning a burial—visiting cemeteries, choosing coffins, and facing the reality of loss.

Her grief comes during a period when several Nollywood stars have also experienced the loss of parents:

  • Odunlade Adekola lost his father, Pastor N. A. Adekola, in August.

  • Adekola Tijani announced the passing of his mother.

  • Nuella Njubigbo lost her father and prayed for his peaceful rest.

  • Ini Edo also mourned her father, calling him her “first love” and greatest supporter.

As Mercy Aigbe prepares to bury her mother today, tributes continue to pour in from fans and colleagues across the industry.
