Popular Nigerian comedian Bovi has reacted to the arrest of TikTok personality Habeeb Hamzat, popularly known as Peller, following a dramatic incident linked to his recent breakup with his girlfriend, Jarvis.
Peller was reportedly taken into police custody on Tuesday, December 16, after the incident sparked widespread attention on social media. The situation quickly generated mixed reactions online, with many users expressing concern, while others debated the legal and emotional aspects of the case.
Reacting to the development, Bovi shared a video on his official X (formerly Twitter) page, where he reminded Nigerians that, under Nigerian law, attempting to take one’s own life is considered a criminal offence. He explained that such an act is punishable by law and could attract a jail sentence of up to one year if a person is found guilty.
Earlier, the Nigerian police confirmed the arrest of a content creator connected to the incident, stating that the suspect was being held while investigations were ongoing. Although the police did not initially reveal the identity of the individual, several reports later linked the arrest to Peller, who is known for his dramatic online content and large youth following.
Further reports suggested that the police action was taken due to concerns over Peller’s safety following the breakup, prompting authorities to intervene as part of their investigation.
The incident has continued to spark conversations online about mental health, social media pressure, and the legal implications of personal crises in Nigeria.
