“I’m Alive for a Reason” – Actress Temitope Osoba Shares Cancer Survival Story as She Clocks 40

Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba has shared an emotional reflection on how beating cancer reshaped her life as she celebrates her 40th birthday.

To mark her new age, the movie star released stunning photos and explained that turning 40 once felt impossible. She said the journey to this point was filled with fear, pain, uncertainty, and long nights, but she is grateful to still be standing — stronger, calmer, and wiser.

According to her, surviving cancer completely transformed her outlook on life. It taught her the value of every moment, the fragility of time, and the strength that hope can bring. She said she carries “the scars,” but she also holds on to “the lessons, the courage I never knew I had, the love that held me together, and the quiet strength that kept whispering, ‘keep going.’”

In her words:

“Today, I turn 40 — a milestone that once felt so far out of reach…. Surviving cancer changed me…. Turning 40 isn’t just a birthday for me; it’s a victory, a blessing, and a reminder that miracles happen.”

Temitope added that this birthday is unlike any other as she now celebrates simple joys — breathing, seeing the sunrise, getting second chances, and being alive. She described herself as “a survivor, a fighter, and a living testimony.” She also reminded fans that her movie COST OF A LIE premieres on her YouTube channel TOPEOSOBATV.

Months earlier, during an interview, Temitope Osoba revealed that doctors warned she might not conceive for at least five years due to the medications she needed. She explained how devastating the news was, especially since she was already 38 and feared waiting until her 40s to have a child.

In another emotional interview in February last year, she told colleague Biola Bayo that she had once been sexually assaulted by her uncle while living with her grandmother. The trauma affected her mental health, pushed her into depression, and slowed her career growth.

After that interview, Biola Bayo publicly announced Temitope’s full return to Nollywood and appealed to producers, directors, and production managers to offer her roles, noting she was ready to work again.

Later in the year, actress Foluke Daramola also revealed that Temitope had undergone breast surgery. She thanked the public for their support and encouraged them to continue assisting her.
