Bayelsa Police React to Viral Video of Officers Assaulting Tricycle Driver

The Bayelsa State Police Command has reacted to a viral video circulating on social media that shows police officers allegedly assaulting a tricycle, popularly known as keke, driver in the state.


In a statement released by the command’s spokesperson, DSP Musa Mohammed, the Commissioner of Police, CP Iyamah Daniel Edebor, strongly condemned the incident. He described the officers’ actions as unacceptable and against the standards of professional policing.


According to the statement, the police command does not support or tolerate any form of brutality, human rights abuse, or unprofessional behaviour by its personnel. The commissioner emphasized that such conduct goes against the core values of the Nigeria Police Force.


DSP Mohammed confirmed that the officers seen in the video have been arrested and that disciplinary actions have already begun. He said the investigation and punishment process would be carried out in line with the Police Act and other existing regulations.


The police command also assured members of the public that appropriate steps are being taken to ensure accountability and to prevent similar incidents in the future.


The video of the incident continues to circulate online and has sparked widespread public outrage and calls for justice.
