JAMB Bars Some CBT Centres From 2026 UTME Registration

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres whose registration activities cannot be monitored online will not be allowed to take part in the 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) registration.

The decision was disclosed in JAMB’s weekly bulletin published on Monday. According to the board, the move is part of efforts to stop registration irregularities and protect the integrity of its examination process. JAMB described the policy as “No Vision, No Registration, No UTME.”

Speaking at a stakeholders’ meeting, JAMB Registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, explained that all CBT centres involved in the 2026 UTME registration will be monitored live from JAMB’s National Headquarters in Abuja. The meeting included Peace Monitors, Chief Technical Advisers, Chief External Examiners, as well as zonal and state coordinators responsible for supervising CBT centres.

Oloyede stressed that any centre that cannot be viewed live from the headquarters will not be allowed to register candidates or conduct the 2026 UTME. He added that such centres will also not be paid, and any registration carried out there may be cancelled.

According to him, the policy is aimed at ensuring transparency, accountability, and fairness in the UTME registration process nationwide.
