Tinubu Surrounded by People Who Don’t Understand Politics — Senator Ndume Says

Senator Ali Ndume, who represents Borno South in the National Assembly, has criticised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s inner circle, saying the President is surrounded by advisers who lack proper political understanding and strong connections to ordinary Nigerians.

Ndume made this known on Wednesday during an interview on ARISE Television’s Prime Time. He warned that growing dissatisfaction in the North could negatively affect the President’s chances in future elections if urgent steps are not taken to address the concerns of the people.

According to the senator, there is widespread frustration across the northern region. He said anyone who claims the North is not unhappy is being dishonest, adding that the anger may be clearly reflected at the ballot box if the situation remains unresolved. However, Ndume noted that the President still has the opportunity to correct things and regain public confidence.

Ndume also revealed that northern leaders have been making efforts to engage President Tinubu constructively. He disclosed that he personally took part in meetings between the President and northern elders, describing the discussions as productive.

He said during those meetings, President Tinubu came prepared and invited key political appointees from the North, which allowed for open and meaningful conversations. Ndume expressed hope that such engagements would lead to practical solutions to the challenges facing the region.
