Israel DMW, a close associate of Afrobeats star Davido, has reacted to the singer’s loss at the 2026 Grammy Awards, which took place on Sunday, February 1, in Los Angeles.
Davido was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category alongside Burna Boy, Wizkid, Omah Lay, and Ayra Starr. However, the award went to South African singer Tyla, who won with her song Push 2 Start.
Following the announcement, Israel DMW took to Instagram to encourage fans and supporters, stressing that Davido remains one of the strongest forces in the music industry. He expressed confidence that the singer would continue to release hit songs despite missing out on the award.
Tyla’s winning track beat other nominees, including Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Gimme Dat by Ayra Starr and Wizkid, as well as Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin. Her win marked another major milestone in her fast-rising global career.
Meanwhile, Davido’s fans maintained that awards do not define his influence, pointing to his consistency, longevity, and strong connection with audiences around the world. Israel DMW also noted that Davido’s legacy as a hitmaker remains intact, adding that his long list of successful songs speaks for itself.
He reassured supporters that Davido’s music journey is far from over, promising that more exciting releases are on the way. Although he did not win a Grammy this year, many see the nomination as another important achievement in the singer’s over-a-decade-long career as one of Africa’s leading Afrobeats artists.
