Nigerian comedian Seyilaw has expressed regret over his statement that Nigeria is safer now than ten years ago.
He initially made the comment on a podcast, praising the Tinubu-led government for addressing insecurity, but faced criticism from many Nigerians, including kidnapping victims, who called the remark insensitive.
In a video on his Instagram page, Seyilaw apologized, saying:
“My fellow Nigerians, I owe you this and more. You don’t deserve to have your sleep snatched away from you, and the pain of one should be the pain of all. I am sincerely and deeply sorry for such an insensitive statement. I apologise to victims, families, and everyone affected by insecurity in the country.”
He also urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to intensify efforts against insecurity.
