“Policemen attacked me, seized my iPhone, and stole my brother’s $1,200” — skit maker Ijoba Lande cries out

Nigerian skit maker and actor, Ganiyu Morufu, popularly known as Ijoba Lande, has accused police officers attached to the Area ‘J’ Division of the Lagos State Police Command of assaulting him and taking his personal belongings.

According to the entertainer, the incident happened just six days after he returned to Nigeria from the United Kingdom. He alleged that during the encounter, the police officers physically assaulted him, seized his iPhone 16 Pro Max, and also took $1,200 in cash belonging to his brother.

A video currently circulating on social media shows Ijoba Lande with visible injuries, including bleeding around his eyes. In the footage, some bystanders were seen pouring water on his face in an attempt to clean him up. The video also captured him inside what appeared to be a police facility, where he seemed to be trying to report the incident after the alleged assault.

Ijoba Lande did not clearly explain where or how the incident happened, and details surrounding what led to the alleged assault remain unclear. However, his account has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians expressing concern and calling for proper investigation.

The Lagos State Police Command has not yet issued an official statement on the matter as the story continues to generate debate on social media.
