The United States government has condemned the deadly attack on communities in Kaiama Local Government Area of Kwara State, describing the incident as “horrific.”
In a statement shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) account, the US Mission in Nigeria said more than 160 people were feared dead, while many others were still missing, noting that the full death toll had not yet been confirmed.
The US expressed deep sympathy to the families and communities affected by what it described as senseless violence.
The statement also welcomed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s directive for the deployment of security forces to the affected areas, saying the move was important to protect lives and restore peace.
The attack has continued to draw reactions both locally and internationally, as calls grow for improved security and justice for the victims.
