Former Minister of Power, Bayo Adelabu, has dismissed reports claiming that President Bola Tinubu and the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Ladoja, have endorsed a candidate for the 2027 Oyo State governorship election.
Speaking on Thursday in Ibadan, Adelabu told party members and supporters that such reports are false and should be ignored. He stressed that the race remains open to all interested aspirants.
According to him, President Tinubu has not chosen or supported any candidate, noting that as the leader of the country, he oversees all states and cannot show preference for any individual in the contest.
Adelabu also revealed that the President advised party stakeholders to either agree on a consensus candidate or conduct a primary election if consensus cannot be reached.
He explained that party members should work together to decide on the best approach, adding that a transparent process will determine who emerges as the party’s candidate.
The clarification comes amid growing political discussions ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Oyo State.
