A young woman identified as Jola, a lash technician, has publicly apologised after a viral incident in which she assaulted an elderly woman inside a commercial bus.
Jola had earlier taken to social media to brag about the incident, claiming the confrontation began when the elderly woman complained about the noise from her phone. According to her, she reduced the volume, but the woman continued insulting her. She said she responded after being provoked and alleged that the elderly woman later slapped her twice.
Following the altercation, Jola claimed she reacted violently and later made online posts mocking the elderly woman and her children, which sparked widespread backlash.
However, the situation escalated when a child of the elderly woman reportedly traced Jola and had her arrested. The family later shared videos and photos showing her at a police station, insisting they would not tolerate any disrespect towards their mother.
The child further revealed that Jola was released on the condition that she would issue a public apology.
In response, Jola has now released an apology video, where she expressed regret over her actions and referred to the elderly woman respectfully as “Grandma.”
The incident has continued to generate reactions online, with many condemning the assault while others call for better conflict resolution in public spaces.
