Edo Governor Okpebholo Dismisses Peter Obi’s Chances in 2027, Vows Strong Support for Tinubu

The Governor of Edo State, Monday Okpebholo, has said that Peter Obi only won the state during the 2023 Nigerian presidential election because of the failure of the previous administration.

Speaking during an appearance on Politics Today on Channels Television, the governor argued that Obi does not have the strength or capacity to win Edo State in the 2027 election.

Okpebholo explained that the outcome of the 2023 election was influenced by what he described as poor performance by the former governor at the time. According to him, this created an opportunity that worked in Obi’s favour.

The governor also repeated his earlier promise to deliver 2.5 million votes in Edo State for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the next general election. He said growing support for both the president and the All Progressives Congress would lead to strong results in the state.

Dismissing doubts about his projection, Okpebholo insisted that public support is already visible. He claimed that during his visits, residents came out in large numbers without being informed ahead of time, which he believes will translate into votes during the election.

His comments have since added to ongoing political discussions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
