Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has reacted to a comedic skit performed by comedian Bovi Ugboma during the 2026 Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards, where he recreated her viral exchange with fellow actress Funke Akindele.
The award ceremony, co-hosted by Bovi and South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha, featured a humorous segment that referenced the widely discussed moment between Toyin Abraham and Funke Akindele.
In the skit, Nomzamo Mbatha acted as Funke Akindele, while Bovi Ugboma played the role of Toyin Abraham. The audience reacted with loud laughter as Bovi jokingly delivered a line mimicking the situation, saying, “Aunty Funke… if I ever present award to you, call me bastard,” which added more humour to the performance.
The comedy referenced a viral incident from the premiere of The Return of Arinzo, where Funke Akindele appeared not to immediately acknowledge Toyin Abraham during a public greeting. In the video, Toyin was seen greeting actresses Iyabo Ojo and Mercy Aigbe before approaching Funke Akindele, a moment that sparked online discussions at the time.
After the AMVCA event, Toyin Abraham spoke with Bovi in a lighthearted conversation, admitting she expected the joke. She said she found it funny and was not offended by the recreation.
Bovi also responded with laughter, explaining that he only recreated what had been circulating online and meant no harm with the performance.
The moment has since generated positive reactions on social media, with many users praising Toyin Abraham for taking the joke in good spirits and showing a strong sense of humour despite the viral controversy.
