INEC Yet to Receive Certified Court Judgment on NDC Registration, Says It Cannot Comment

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has said it is yet to receive the Certified True Copy (CTC) of the Federal High Court judgment that set aside an earlier order concerning the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).

Speaking in an interview with The Punch, the Chief Press Secretary and Media Adviser to the INEC Chairman, Adedayo Oketola, said the commission is aware of reports about the court's ruling delivered on June 26, 2026, in Lokoja.

However, Oketola explained that INEC cannot comment on the details of the judgment because it has not officially received the Certified True Copy of the court's decision.

According to him, the commission's legal department will carefully review the judgment once the certified copy is received before deciding on the next step.

He stated that INEC would make an informed and lawful decision in line with the court's directives after studying the document.

Oketola also appealed to the public to remain patient, stressing that the commission would issue its official position only after its legal team has examined the judgment.

The statement comes amid growing public interest in the court's decision regarding the registration of the Nigeria Democratic Congress, with many awaiting INEC's official response.
