Former Minister of Science and Technology Uche Nnaji arrested at Abuja airport.

Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, has been arrested by security operatives at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja over allegations of certificate forgery.

Nnaji was arrested on Wednesday shortly after arriving in Abuja from Enugu aboard a chartered flight. He is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) for questioning as part of its ongoing investigation.

The arrest follows an investigation by the anti-corruption agency into claims that the former minister allegedly forged his academic certificates.

Earlier in June, a Federal High Court in Abuja granted the ICPC permission to arrest Nnaji after he allegedly failed to honour several invitations to appear before the commission for questioning.

The court also authorised the ICPC to declare him wanted through national newspapers, social media platforms, and other media outlets to assist in locating him.

According to court documents, the ICPC told the court that repeated efforts to secure Nnaji's appearance for investigative activities were unsuccessful. As a result, the commission sought legal approval to arrest him and publicly declare him wanted.

Following his arrest at the Abuja airport, Nnaji is expected to be transferred to the ICPC headquarters, where investigators will continue questioning him over the allegations.

As of the time of filing this report, the ICPC had not released an official statement confirming the arrest. Likewise, Uche Nnaji and his representatives had not publicly responded to the allegations of certificate forgery or his arrest.
