Veteran Nollywood actor Yinka Quadri has penned an emotional tribute to his late best friend and colleague, Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, following his death.
Ogogo reportedly passed away on August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, leaving family, friends, colleagues and fans mourning his loss.
In a lengthy tribute, Yinka Quadri reflected on the deep bond he shared with the late actor, revealing that their friendship began in 1984 and eventually grew into something far beyond an ordinary friendship.
Beginning his tribute with “Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un,” Yinka expressed his acceptance of God’s will, noting that death is inevitable for everyone, regardless of wealth, power or status.
He described Ogogo as his bosom friend and thanked God for the beautiful life he lived and the memories they shared. He also expressed gratitude that his late friend did not go through a prolonged period of illness that would have left those around him constantly searching for financial assistance and medical help.
Yinka then recalled the last time he saw Ogogo at the hospital, revealing that he could not control his tears after seeing his friend lying on his sick bed.
According to him, Ogogo looked at him and said:
“Yinka, don’t cry. Nothing bad will happen to me.”
Yinka said he responded with “Yes, Amen,” and remained hopeful.
He further recalled how Ogogo asked him to hand him a bottle of water. After drinking from it, the late actor reportedly pointed out that he was able to drink despite having eaten earlier that morning and asked the doctors to confirm that he had indeed eaten.
The doctors confirmed it, and Yinka said the moment strengthened his hope and faith, as he believed his friend would recover. However, the doctors advised them to remain prayerful.
Speaking about Ogogo's death, Yinka said he knew deep down that it was not his friend's wish to leave his children, family, friends and loved ones so soon. Nevertheless, he said they had no choice but to accept the unquestionable will of God.
The veteran actor went on to speak extensively about the unique nature of their friendship, revealing that despite the rumours and attempts by some people to create a rift between them, they never publicly spoke against each other.
According to Yinka, whenever rumours emerged that they were fighting, people were merely speculating because neither of them had ever publicly confirmed such claims.
He explained that what made their friendship special was the way they handled disagreements. According to him, whenever they had a misunderstanding, people would eagerly wait to see how they would react when they met at public events.
However, to the surprise of many, they would often be seen sitting together, laughing, chatting and walking side by side as though nothing had happened.
Yinka said the same thing happened on movie locations, where they were frequently seen together despite rumours suggesting otherwise. He recalled an occasion when Ajobiewe allegedly called them out at a party after assuming they were having issues, even though they were sitting together at the time.
Reflecting on their bond, Yinka described Taiwo Hassan as much more than a friend.
“You were more than a friend to me. You were my brother, my confidant, and my companion,” he wrote.
The actor also revealed that he had always described their relationship in a unique way, saying they were “twins from heaven, only born to different mothers.”
According to Yinka, their friendship was one of those rare relationships that could not be destroyed by time, disagreements, rumours or circumstances.
He said Ogogo's death had left a void that words could not fill, but promised to forever cherish the memories they created together, including their laughter, journeys, time on movie sets, disagreements they overcame and the countless moments that strengthened their friendship.
Concluding his emotional tribute, Yinka Quadri wrote that although Taiwo Hassan had left the world, he would never leave his heart.
He prayed for God to forgive his late friend's sins, grant him eternal rest and give his family, children, friends and loved ones the strength to bear the painful loss.
“Rest peacefully, my beloved friend. Rest well, my brother. Until we meet again, may your soul rest in perfect peace. Taiwo Hassan Ogogo — Forever in my heart,” Yinka wrote.
