Nollywood actor Ibrahim Yekini, popularly known as Itele, has expressed pride and gratitude after becoming part of a Guinness World Record achievement through the movie Black Market.
The development follows the reported gathering of more than 51,000 people at Tafawa Balewa Square in Lagos to watch Black Market. Guinness World Records officials reportedly confirmed the feat during the event, making it the largest audience ever recorded for a film screening.
The achievement surpassed the previous record of 43,624 people, set by Felix Manalo in the Philippines in 2015.
Black Market, produced by Rixel Studios, features several Nollywood stars, including Itele, Omowunmi Dada, Lateef Adedimeji, Uzor Arukwe, Linda Ejiofor Suleiman, Scarlet Gomez, Teniola Aladese and Susan Pwajok, among others.
Reacting to the historic achievement, Itele took to social media to reflect on his journey from his humble beginnings in Agege and Agbado Crossing to gaining international recognition through his acting career.
The actor said looking back at where he started has helped him appreciate how far he believes God has brought him.
Itele described his involvement in Black Market as more than just another movie role, saying the achievement represents a significant milestone in his career and personal journey.
He also encouraged himself to remain focused, continue working hard and never forget his humble beginnings.
“That boy from Agbado Crossing/Agege – To the world.”
The actor further noted that the achievement serves as a reminder to keep dreaming, pushing forward and believing in his abilities.
For Itele, being part of a production that has reportedly made history with a Guinness World Record represents another major chapter in his journey from the streets of Agege and Agbado Crossing to the global stage.
