At least 20 players of the Nigerian national team, the Super Eagles, have arrived at the team’s camp in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, ahead of their 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The players began arriving at the Four Points by Sheraton Hotel in Ikot Ekpene on Monday as preparations intensified for the two crucial qualifiers. Head coach Éric Chelle, his assistants and other members of the technical crew were among the early arrivals at the team’s camp.
Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi, winger Samuel Chukwueze and goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali were also expected to join their teammates later in the day as the full squad continues to assemble.
The team is scheduled to hold its first training session at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Monday evening. The opening 15 minutes of the training session will be open to members of the media and the public.
Nigeria will begin its qualifying campaign at home on Friday when the Super Eagles host Madagascar, popularly known as the Barea. Following the encounter, the Nigerian team will travel to Bissau to face Guinea-Bissau’s Djurtus next Tuesday.
The Super Eagles are expected to approach both matches with the aim of collecting maximum points and making a positive start to their journey towards securing qualification for the 2027 AFCON tournament.
