33-Year-Old Man Arrested for Writing FCT Civil Service Promotion Exam for Father

A 33-year-old man identified as Monsuru Musa has been arrested after he was allegedly caught writing a promotional examination on behalf of his father, Musa Mohammed, an employee of the FCT Fire Service.

The incident occurred on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at the examination venue within the premises of the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN).

According to Lere Olayinka, spokesperson for the command, Monsuru was apprehended by security personnel deployed on the directive of the FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike, while he was taking the FCT Civil Service Commission promotional examination meant for his father.

During questioning, Monsuru reportedly claimed that his father was sick but was somewhere within the NOUN premises. He allegedly told security officials that his father had instructed him to sit for the examination on his behalf.

Questions about the father’s age also reportedly raised further concerns. Monsuru initially said his father was between 67 and 68 years old, while Musa Mohammed himself reportedly told investigators that he would turn 60 in February 2027.

During further interrogation, Musa reportedly stated that he completed primary school in 1977 and secondary school in 1982.

Following the incident, both the father and son were reportedly taken into custody after making statements to Department of State Services (DSS) operatives. They were subsequently handed over to the police for further investigation.

The authorities are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding the alleged impersonation and determine whether any other individuals were involved in the attempt to have someone else sit for the civil service promotional examination.
