Veteran Nollywood actor Charles Inojie has sparked mixed reactions on social media after sharing his opinion on side chicks and why they exist in relationships.
The actor made the comment during an appearance on The Beer Parlour Show, where he jokingly suggested that God created side chicks because He knew that marriage would not be easy.
His remark has generated conversations online, with some social media users viewing it as a humorous take on the challenges of marriage, while others criticised the statement for appearing to normalise infidelity.
Reacting to the comment, an Instagram user, @comrd_alamin_mustapha, argued that anyone who holds such a mindset should not feel cheated or unhappy if their wife engages in similar behaviour.
Another user, @star.enterprise76, suggested that if side chicks exist for married men, then women should also be free to have side partners. The commenter added, “That’s why he created side guys for women too. Thank God for people like Chike.”
Meanwhile, @cherii_coco expressed displeasure over what they described as the normalisation of cheating, writing, “I don’t like how we all normalise cheating.”
Similarly, @jeoscy_fabulous noted that the statement might seem funny until someone experiences the same situation, while @lady.angel.4xo questioned how a person with such a mindset would feel if their wife reciprocated the behaviour.
However, not everyone disagreed with the actor, as @gbhenger described the comment as funny but factual, adding, “Funny but facts! If you know, you know.”
The reactions highlight differing opinions about infidelity, with some people treating the actor’s remark as humour, while others believe that jokes about side relationships can encourage a culture of cheating.
Although Charles Inojie’s comment was presented jokingly, it has continued to fuel discussions about marital faithfulness, double standards and whether the existence of side partners should ever be used to justify infidelity.
