The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians about a fake website falsely claiming that the commission has opened a new nationwide online voter registration exercise.
In a public notice issued on Saturday, INEC identified the fraudulent website as pvc-inecnigeria-org.blogspot.com, which it said had falsely announced a registration window running from September 28 to October 27, 2026.
The commission stressed that the website is not affiliated with INEC and urged members of the public not to visit the platform, click on its links or submit their personal information.
INEC warned that providing personal details on the fake website could expose Nigerians to the risk of having their sensitive data harvested or misused.
The electoral body also clarified that the 2026 voter registration exercise officially ended on July 26, 2026, dismissing claims that a fresh nationwide online registration exercise is currently underway.
INEC urged Nigerians to remain vigilant and verify information concerning voter registration and other electoral activities through the commission’s official communication channels.
The warning comes amid concerns over fraudulent websites and online platforms that could be used to obtain sensitive personal information from unsuspecting Nigerians.
