“My Husband Asked Me To” – Itele’s Wife Explains Why She Deleted Video Attacking Actor Irewole Olaniyan

Aminat Omowunmi Yekini, the wife of Nollywood actor Itele, has explained why she deleted a video in which she criticised his colleague, Irewole Olaniyan, amid the ongoing controversy surrounding the actress.

Aminat had earlier taken to social media to call out people who were defending and encouraging the actress’ alleged behaviour simply because she was their favourite. She accused them of hypocrisy, arguing that people who previously condemned relationships involving side chicks were now changing their stance because the person involved was someone they supported.

In her deleted video, she said:

“Before, we all agreed that side chicks were a big deal, but now some of you are out here defending and encouraging them simply because it’s your fave this time. The hypocrisy is actually screaming.”

She further added in Yoruba:

“Ori gbogbo yin ti daru.”

Her comments, however, attracted criticism from some social media users, who dragged her over the video. Shortly afterwards, it was noticed that Aminat had deleted the post.

Addressing the reason behind its removal, the mother of two daughters clarified that she did not take down the video because of the criticism or trolls she received online.

According to her, Itele personally called her and asked her to delete the post, prompting her to comply with his request.

Despite deleting the video, Aminat maintained her position on the matter, insisting that she stood by what she had said.

She wrote:

“I didn’t delete my previous post because of anybody. Una no even reach. I deleted it because my husband called and urged me to do so. I said what I said, and that’s on period.”

She subsequently told her followers to support her business page, suggesting that she and her family had decided to focus their attention on their own affairs rather than continue engaging in the controversy.

Aminat added:

“Y’all should follow my business page. We don face our business. Now we no chase side hen again.”

Her explanation has since drawn further attention online, particularly because she made it clear that the deletion of the controversial post was at her husband's request rather than as a result of pressure from critics.
