Every last Saturday of the month is normally dedicated to a mandatory clean up in Lagos. It's called environmental sanitation in which the mega city of Lagos would be shut for three(3) hours for cleaning of housing and co.

Shops, businesses on the road and vehicles  would be shut from 7am to 10am but not anymore after the Governor of Lagos State Akinwunmi Ambode says mega city Lagos can't afford to be shut for three hours saying it would affect the economy of the state. He stressed that the sanitation exercise should rather be a daily exercise which should be a way of life for Lagosians.
