His words:

” It has been brought to my concern that some Nigerians are always quick to send text messages or call my wife, Foluke Daramola Salako on phone to express their ‘worry’ about her marital well being anytime I have to write or comment on anything that has to do with marriage. I find some of these “well wishes”, especially from ‘interested’ men, unwarranted, because what I talk about has nothing to do with me and my wife.

I have been running some of my social media platforms for many years, even long before I met my Foluke. And I have been writing like that on burning, germane and controversial social, political, religious and economic issues based on my opinions. It has been a platform where I express my thoughts and opinions on issues of interest to me.

This is my own way of creating fun, relaxation and fulfillment for my creative mind and mental person. It is what I have been doing for about 15 years. It is what I enjoy doing. It keeps me creatively and thoughtfully thinking and alive. It is my passion!

I know a lot of people out there are expecting the bad breaking news about my marriage to Foluke. That is why they are on the edge, curiosity and anxiety anytime I write on marriage. I think it is only an unreasonable man who would want to discuss his marital challenges on social media, even if I have one – I dont think even the illetrate people hardly do it.

What I wrote and posted yesterday was about a trending issue on the menace of incessant marriage crashes in the entertainment industry generally and has nothing to do with my own. My marriage to Foluke is God ordained and cannot crash. If it didn’t crash when the pressure was so excruciating on us, is it now that it is unofficially and officially 5 years that it would crash?! The conviction is still ever strong and shall continue to be strong. My marriage to Foluke is still very, very intact, strong and fulfilling. We live together in the hope and fulfillment of being better people in Nigeria some day, and I am enjoying it and I love my life in that.

People should, therefore, please spare my wife all these suspicious and pretentious concerns. They should leave her alone to continue to live in the place of her destiny. I don’t think it should be a crime to be the husband of a celebrity or a celebrity.

This is what I always tell people about my marriage to Foluke: Anybody who wants us to crash it should, first of all, go and meet God and ask for His permission. If God could grant it, then maybe it could be possible. If it is not from God, it can never, ever be from us. We are too sure about that.
Foluke is a very contented, disciplined, value based and ideally exposed woman, who cannot be jumping from one man to the other like that. She is the best part of me and shall continue to be. There is nothing wrong with her marriage. And there is nothing wrong with us.

We are both aware a lot of people around the world are waiting for the bad news, but I can assure them they will wait for as long as God is still interested in keeping us together!

Foluke is not a perfect woman and neither am I, but in this, we are optimally perfect together…” – Olukayode Salako
