Giorgio Chiellini, who is Juventus defender, has asserted that Real Madrid rigged the 2018 Ballon d’Or award to guarantee Cristiano Ronaldo didn’t win it.
The 2018 Ballon d’Or award was won by Real Madrid player Luka Modric in spite of enormous numbers pulled by Ronaldo in the season.
Winning the award would have seen Cristiano accomplish a record 6th Ballon d’Or award which has now been accomplished last night by his rival Lionel Messi.
Chiellini stated speaking in Milan: “It’s ok that Messi has won the Ballon d’Or this year.
“The real theft was last year, Real Madrid decided that Cristiano should not win the Ballon d’Or. It was really strange.
“Cristiano won the Champions League, [but I suppose] by that logic Van Dijk should have won it this year.
“Maybe last year Griezmann, Pogba or Mbappe should have won for doing extraordinary things at the World Cup. Modric made no sense.”
