Indian actor and 'Slumdog Millionaire' star, Irrfan Khan is dead.
Irrfan Khan, died of neuroendocrine tumor, an uncommon type of cancer, two years after he was diagnosed.
He gave up the ghost in a Mumbai hospital on Wednesday, aged 54, following the demise of his mum just four days ago.
He was known predominantly for his work in Hindi cinema, in addition to British and American films.
He had been admitted to the emergency unit of Mumbai’s Kokilaben hospital on Tuesday with a colon infection.
A statement was released on Wednesday morning confirming his demise.
“It’s saddening that this day, we have to bring forward the news of him passing away,” read the statement. “Irrfan was a strong soul, someone who fought till the very end and always inspired everyone who came close to him.”
