Oldest King In Oyo State, Oba Afolabi II Is Dead, Age 141

Oldest king in Oyo state, Oba Samuel Durodola Afolabi II dies at 141
Oba Samuel Durodola Afolabi, the Onilua of Ilua, Kajola Local Government Area of Oyo State,has died.

In the early hours of Saturday, Oba Afolabi, who is said to be the oldest king in Oyo State, gave up the ghost at the age of 141, after a brief illness, related to old age.

The Nation refered to a source to have stated that, the late ruler was born in 1879 to the Afolabi family in Ilua, and was enthroned as king in the community 38 years back, at 102 years old.

The late ruler, who was a commercial farmer at Arigidana, Baba Ode in Itesiwaju Local Government of the state before his coronation as king, succeeded Oba Majaro in 1981.

Afolabi’s choice as Oba was said to have been collectively settled upon by community leaders and king makers of Ilualand at the time.
