Veteran Yoruba actress, Kudirat Odukanmi, known as Iyabo Oko, has returned to acting barely two years after she announced her retirement.



News caused quite a stir in 2017 that the veteran actress was taken to India for care after she was hut by stroke for nearly two years. Iyabo Oko moved to the UK fast into 2018 and gradually went out of limelight.


While in India, journalist, Gbolahan Adetayo announced that the actress had revealed that she would eventually quit acting and she would be solely a producer once she returned to Nigeria.

Then, Gbolahan asked: “In the industry, you are getting old now but I want to believe that this is not the right time for you to leave the industry just like that because you are in your prime time. Which work do you think you can do now apart from producing?


“My children are already planning another work for me to do. I was told not to be jumping around; they are planning to open a shop for me so that I can start selling provisions and also produce movies once in a while. That doesn’t mean that I will relegate myself from the industry totally, I will still be doing some jobs since I am fit again. I pray I don’t experience such again” She replied…

The actress has, however, fully returned to acting according to new reports.


She was recently seen at her kid brother Saheed Fashola's location and the flick is named 'Abo' meaning security. She's been busy hopping from one spot to another ever since.

The actress has recently opened up and revealed what she had gone through when she was sick.


Iyabo Oko used to be among the thriving actresses in the Yoruba film industry before she fell seriously ill, taking a break from the film scene due to Stroke's complications.

She lost her voice, weight and all during that time. She was at the Military Hospital initially, Yaba and she soon afterwards gained back her voice, but she lost it again when she returned home.


She was flown to UK for treatment by one of her children, where he hired a psychiatrist who helped her get back her voice. Later, she was moved to India received further care. She spent 7 months in India making herself perfectly good. Iyabo Oko spent 2 years away from the movie scene as a result of the ailment.
