Singer Naira Marley Pleads Guilty For Violating COVID-19 LockDown Order, Fined N100k.


In June this year, the Lagos State Special Offenses (Mobile) Court, Oshodi, fined singer Afeez Fashola popularly known as Naira Marley and his manager N100, 000 for violating the interstate travel ban.

The singer and his manager had a drive-through concert in Abuja on June 8 this year, traveling from Lagos to Abuja and back to Lagos for. Today 6 August, he was arraigned by the state police command before the trial.

A statement by State Police Command spokesman Bala Elkana said Naira Marley and his manager Seyi Awouga were arraigned on a one-count charge.

''breach of the cessation of movement and interstates travel order made by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria under Regulation 4(i) of the Lagos State Infectious Disease Emergency Prevention) Regulation No 2 of 2020 and committed an offence punishable under Section 58 Public Health Law, Ch. P16, Laws of Lagos State 2015''

Once the charge was read to them, Naira Marley and his manager pleaded guilty and received a fine of one hundred thousand naira each from the presiding magistrate.
