A 26-year-old corps member and her husband were charged with maltreatment of their house help.
Agatha Egodi Philip-Iboko, a mother-in - law, was arrested alongside her husband, Philip Iboko, for allegedly torturing Osinakachukwu, an eight-year - old house helper.
Just days ago, a photo of the house help lying in the open, under the heat, her legs and hands chained together, came viral after a couple's neighbor had shared the photo online.
The neighbor explained that because she ate part of the sweet N10 they bought for their two-year - old daughter, the young house helper was subjected to child cruelty.
It made the Nigerians furious, and they called for the arrest of the boy's guardians.
Agatha, who serves with the Ministry of Agriculture, State of Ebonyi, has taken pictures of her household and praised her for her "disappearing goodwill towards others" and for being a great caretaker of her daughter, Doris, prior to this incident.
After Agatha and her husband were arrested, Osinakachukwu was put in the custody of the Chairman of the Izzi LGA Council, Chief Paul Nwogha.
