Three men were arrested for exhuming and ritually beheading 10 corpses, identified as Kola Fatoye, 40, Abimbola Fatoye, 35, and Ahmed Ojo, 56.

In Orun-Ekiti, Ekiti county, police prosecutor Monica Ikebuilo said the defendants committed the crime between March and September 2020.

The severed corpses were those of Philip Akintayo, Moreani Ajayi and eight others.

The complaint of the defendants accused of violating sections 242(1)(b), 210(e) and 213(b) of the Criminal Code, Ekiti State Laws, 2012 was not admitted as the prosecutor urged the court to bring them to the correctional center pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecution's (DPP) office.

Mrs. Adefumike Anoma, Chief Magistrate, subsequently ordered the suspects to be remanded to the correctional centre pending the issuance of legal advice. She further adjourned the case for reference until November 6.
