The Government Girls Secondary School in Zamfara state was raided by unknown gunmen and about 300 school girls were abducted, reports show.
This is the fourth major terrorist abduction in the northern part of Nigeria, beginning with the abduction of over 300 students from the Katsina State Government College in Kankara.
The abduction of girls at the Government Girls High School in Jangebe, Talatu Mafara State Local Government Area, was recorded at around 2 a.m.
The terrorists raided the classroom, taking the students away.
Before attacking the school, some of the terrorists allegedly overran a military checkpoint very close to the school.
It is reported that several soldiers suffered many casualties, but no causalities were reported as of the time this report was filed.
In order to save the schoolgirls, Newsman gathered that vigilantes in the area are chasing the terrorist.
The incident was reported by Governor Bello Matawalle's special assistant on public enlightenment, Zailani Bappah, speaking on BBC Pidgin.
