"For Your Attention, I Am Not A Member Of TAMPAN" - Yomi Fabiyi Reacts To His Suspension.

Following his suspension from the Theatre Arts and Motion Picture Practitioner Association of Nigeria, Nollywood actor Yomi Fabiyi has implicitly rejected claims of being a member.

TAMPAN had previously suspended Yomi Fabiyi indefinitely over his latest film ‘Oko Iyabo,' which depicts the Baba Ijesha rape scandal.

The film, which premiered on YouTube on July 4, 2021, included actors Iyabo Ojo and Olarenwaju Omiyinka, better known as Baba Ijesha, who played characters with the names of people involved in the rape case.

In response to the suspension, Yomi Fabiyi wrote on his Instagram profile that he was previously a member of ANTP and that he would renew his membership.

According to the actor, he never obtained or signed any TAMPAN forms, nor did he join any guild, and he was forced to pay a registration fee with no legal procedure.

According to Yomi Fabiyi, the letter from TAMPAN is invalid for him as a filmmaker, and any necessary response will be based on the violation of human rights.

" I’m originally ANTP member, the worst case I will renew my membership there. I have never obtained or sign any form with TAMPAN or join any guild. I was made to pay for registration which I did but no form collected or formal procedure.

The letter is inappropriate, not valid for me as a filmmaker. Any reaction if necessary will be on the basis of Human Rights Violation if I so wish to see judicial redress, You don’t lose what you never had."
