"MY DAD PASSED AWAY WITHOUT A REWARD FOR ALL HIS WORKS" KUNLE AFOLAYAN LAMENTS

Adeyemi Afolayan, often known as Ade Love, the father of filmmaker Kunle Afolayan, reportedly passed away without receiving compensation for his efforts.

The 47-year-old said his father passed away at a "very young" age in a recent interview with media personality Chude Jideonwo, adding that he did not enjoy the rewards of his labor.

Adeyemi's passing, he added, is the reason "some of us are able to do what we're doing now."

He didn't even come close to receiving his reward, not at all. At the young age of 56, he passed away. But I believe he had to pass away in order for some of us to be able to carry on our current work.

In my opinion, when someone passes away, it's because someone else would fill their vacant time. Because of what we are doing, one of the reasons why there is still continuity and why his name is still heard everywhere.

He said:

"I believe he had a good life, and we'll follow him one day. If any of our children choose to pursue the profession, it is entirely up to them; if not,

Ade Love, the brother of the actress Toyin Afolayan, was also a film director in addition to being an actor.

He joined Moses Olaiya's theatre group in 1966 and departed in 1971 to form his own drama company, which later produced comedy productions.

He made his acting debut in Ola Balogun's Ajani Ogun in 1976 and went on to produce and star in Balogun's other film, Ija Ominira.

In a 2021 tribute to his father, Kunle praised his choice to marry numerous wives, saying it made it possible for him to be his son.

He also said:

"I miss you, Baba mi (my father), but I'm grateful that you married a lot of women because, without them, I would not have had the honor of being named your son.
