After only a few weeks of marriage, Ooni of Ife Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi and his new bride, Mariam made their first public appearance.
According to reports, the couple attended the annual Olojo Festival in Ile-Ife, Osun State, on Saturday while dressed entirely in white. Mariam Anakao, the new Yeyeluwa of Ife, was observed conversing with the monarch during the entire ceremony as several groups paid respects to the Ooni.
Rauf Aregbesola, the interior minister, and Benedict Alabi, the deputy governor of Osun State, among others, were also in attendance.
On September 6, the palace welcomed the new queen, an executive in the oil and gas industry.
Following the dissolution of his marriage to Evangelist Silekunola Naomi, Ooni took a new wife.
Mariam is a native of the Kogi State Ebira ethnic group. She is employed at Nestoil Limited, an oil and gas industry engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning firm.
She reportedly spent her formative years in the home of Mohammed Abubakar, a former inspector general of police, after losing her father at an early age. Her mother was a police officer who retired.
