Lately, some celebrities made headlines not only for their talents but also for their failed marriages.
The statistics in Nigeria are alarming.
Meanwhile, because surprisingly few cases of marriage breakdowns among ordinary men and women make headlines, celebrity experiences usually become viral.
Check out the celebrities that divorce below:
YEWANDE ADEKOYA:
Yewande Adekoya, a Nigerian actress and filmmaker, divorced in April 2022.
While announcing the end of her marriage, the mother of two stated that she had been exposed to emotional abuse for 14 years.
ORITSE FEMI AND NABILA FASH:
Another drama-filled marriage ended after five years for singer Oritsefemi and Nabila Fash.
During a live video session with popular OAP Daddy Freeze, Ms. Fash confirmed they were officially separated and planning a divorce.
JULIUS AGWU AND IBIERE:
In 2008, he married Ibiere. However, the marriage survived for 14 years. The comedian claimed Ibiere left her matrimonial home in 2022 due to his health.
KAFFY AND JOSEPH:
Kaffy revealed in her new podcast episode 'JustKaffy' in January that she is single but not searching.
The dancer made clear that she was bitter in her marriage and that taking the risk of divorce would allow both parties to grow in their respective careers.
PAUL OKOYE (PSQAURE) AND ANITA:
Paul Okoye and Anita married on March 22, 2014, but the marriage was troubled and was previously dissolved in 2022. Anita and Paul have three children.
KALU IKEAGWU AND IJEOMA:
Kalu Ikeagwu told an Ikeja High Court in May that his estranged wife, Ijeoma, allegedly abandoned their matrimonial home and barred him from seeing their two children.
Mr. Ikeagwu sought the dissolving of his six-year marriage to Ijeoma, a makeup artist, in the suit LD/8939HD/2021.
In addition, the British-Nigerian actor is seeking full custody of his three-year-old son and ten-year-old stepdaughter.
SAINT OBI AND IJEOMA:
The news of Obinna Nwafor, aka Saint Obi, divorcing his wife, Lynda Nwafor nee Amobi, became public in February. The case was assigned to Judge Omotayo O. Majekodunmi, who issued a bench warrant for her arrest.
The actor accused his wife Lynda and her brothers, Michael and Chukwumobi Amobi, of attempting to murder him in a suit filed at the High Court of Ogun State with case number HCT/128/2019.
BASKETMOUTH AND ELSIE:
Basketmouth has announced the dissolution of his 12-year marriage to his wife, Elsie.
The father of four made the announcement on his verified Instagram page, where he promised to peacefully co-parent their children with his wife.
FUNKE AKINDELE JJC:
In May 2016, Funke Akindele, aka Jenifa, married filmmaker and director Abdulrasheed Bello, aka JJC Skillz.
Unfortunately, her husband announced their divorce in June 2022, stating that the marriage was "beyond repair."
KORRA OBIDI AND DEAN:
Korra Obidi married Dr. Justin Dean, an American chiropractor, in 2018.
Dean announced in March 2022 that he was leaving the marriage after only four years.
