Heartbreaking Farewell: Family and Friends Say Goodbye to Slain BRT passenger, Bamise Ayanwola at Her Funeral

On Friday, December 16, the funeral for 22-year-old Bamise Ayanwola took place at the Atan cemetery in Lagos state.

Ayanwola was found dead after taking a Bus Rapid Transport (BRT) bus in February. On February 26, 2022, Ayanwola recorded a video of herself on the BRT bus in Lagos, expressing concern about the driver's actions. She had taken the bus with number 240257 from the Chevron bus stop in Lekki to Oshodi at around 7pm after leaving work.

In the video, Ayanwola requested prayers due to her unease about the driver's suspicious behavior, stating that he did not pick up any other passengers after picking her up. Ayanwola never made it home and her body was later discovered by the roadside.

The driver of the bus, Andres Nice, is currently on trial.

Ayanwola's family held her funeral this Friday.
