Breaking News: Three Mighty Chinese Warships Storm Nigeria

Chinese Navy Escort Task Group (ETG) 162, consisting of the MSL Destroyer NANNING, MSL Frigate SANYA, and Supply Ship WEISHANHU, has arrived in Nigeria on July 2 to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two countries. While the MSL Destroyer NANNING docked at the Nigerian Port Authority (NPA) Berth 21, the other two ships remained at anchorage. Chinese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Chi Jian Chun, expressed his commitment to facilitating and promoting the relationship between China and Nigeria during a press conference held after the arrival of the ship, which carried over 700 occupants. The visitation, scheduled from July 2 to 6, aims to enhance maritime security in West Africa.

Ambassador Chi Jian Chun emphasized that the purpose of the visit is to deepen the relationship between China and Nigeria and to strengthen cooperation in various aspects. He expressed his belief that the visit would foster closer cooperation between the military sectors of both countries in overcoming challenges. Rear Adm. Joseph Akpan, the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC) Western Naval Command, added that the visitation would solidify the relationship between China and Nigeria and aid in the fight against crimes, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea.

During the stay of the Chinese task group, there will be interactions and sporting activities between the naval personnel of both countries. Discussions will also be held on future collaborations and how both navies can mutually benefit from each other. The visit aims to foster friendship and cooperation beyond the maritime domain, contributing to the overall bilateral relationship between China and Nigeria.
