Mmesoma Ejikeme Confesses to UTME Result Manipulation, Anambra Panel Unveils Investigation Findings

Mmesoma Ejike, the embattled Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidate from Anglican Girls Secondary School in Nnewi, Anambra state, has confessed to fabricating her examination results. This revelation came during the investigation conducted by a committee established by the Anambra state government to look into the matter.

Mmesoma had initially claimed to have scored 362 in the 2023 UTME, even though the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) did not declare her as the overall best candidate. Her alleged achievement received widespread celebration, and Innocent Chukwuma, the founder of Innoson, awarded her a N3 million scholarship in recognition.

However, JAMB later disclosed that Mmesoma's actual score was 249, not 362. The board reaffirmed that she had manipulated her results to deceive the public, prompting the formation of a panel to investigate the situation.

The recently concluded investigation by the Anambra-constituted panel has determined that Mmesoma indeed falsified her results. The panel's report highlighted significant discrepancies in her registration number, date of birth, center name, and other infractions. Additionally, Mmesoma herself admitted to manipulating the fake results using her mobile phone.

This revelation has brought the controversy surrounding Mmesoma's alleged exceptional performance to a close, underscoring the importance of integrity and honesty in educational examinations. The incident serves as a reminder of the significance of upholding academic ethics and the consequences of engaging in fraudulent activities.
