Nigerian singer Naira Marley has strongly denied any involvement in the passing of his former signee, Mohbad, and emphasized his innocence in a statement released on September 26, 2023. He stated that he has been out of the country since August 31, 2023, and was not present at the time of Mohbad's passing.
Naira Marley expressed shock and sorrow over Mohbad's death and mentioned that he considers the late singer a brother and a member of their music family. He categorically stated that he had no hand in Mohbad's death, either directly or indirectly.
Acknowledging that disagreements are not uncommon in the industry, Naira Marley clarified that any disputes between them were never to the extent of wishing harm on each other. He also mentioned that they were in the process of legally resolving their business disputes before Mohbad's passing.
In response to a police invitation, Naira Marley is making arrangements to return to Nigeria to assist in the investigation and provide his version of events. He stressed his willingness to cooperate with the police team and expressed his desire to clear his name.
Naira Marley believes that there are individuals with a vendetta against him who are attempting to manipulate public opinion and falsely implicate him. He asserted that the truth surrounding Mohbad's death will eventually come to light.
