Nigerians are expressing mixed reactions as the winner of Big Brother Naija All Stars, Ilebaye Odinaya, seeks financial support from her fans.
Using the X app, Ilebaye tweeted a plea for donations to be made to the correct account, citing concerns about fraudsters attempting to exploit her name for personal gain. Her tweet emphasized the importance of sending contributions only to officially posted accounts and urged fans to email for gift inquiries. She specified that the only accessible account is the Baye Tribe account and warned against sending money to unauthorized accounts to avoid fund misappropriation.
This appeal has not been well-received by some Nigerians, who criticized her for seeking support despite winning the grand prize of one hundred and twenty million naira (120,000,000 Naira) and other prizes during the Big Brother Naija All Stars competition.
It's worth noting that Ilebaye made history by becoming the first housemate to win the Big Brother Naija All Stars reality show, triumphing over strong contenders such as Mercy Eke, the winner of Big Brother Naija Season 4 "Pepper Dem," and Ceec, the runner-up of "Double Wahala" Season 3.
Controversy has surrounded Ilebaye's victory, with some questioning whether her win was influenced by sympathy. Nonetheless, notable celebrities like Davido, Queen, Uti Nwachukwu, and others have extended their congratulatory messages to Ilebaye, celebrating her success story. Music sensation and Afrobeat superstar Davido, in particular, took to social media to express his congratulations, emphasizing the significance of celebrating a success story like Ilebaye's.
